Shri Venkaiah Naidu visits ICAR-NRC on Mithun, Nagaland

Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu, Vice-President of India visited the ICAR-National Research Centre on Mithun, Nagaland today. Stating about the richness of the North-East in bio-resources, Shri Naidu stressed on conducting future research for the betterment and prosperity of the tribal population in the region. The Vice-President accentuated on the need of carrying out further research on the use of Mithun for the benefit of common people.

Shri Naidu also visited the exhibition stalls displaying the various technologies and products developed by the Institute and laboratories. During his interaction with the Scientists, the Vice-President discussed the technologies developed by the Institute like Mineral Block Dispenser, Area-Specific Mineral Mixture and Common Diseases occurring in Mithun.

Earlier, in his welcome address, Dr. M.H. Khan, Director, ICAR-NRC on Mithun highlighted the Institute’s achievements over the last 33 Years. Dr. Khan also underlined the Institute’s relentless efforts for popularizing the semi-intensive Mithun farming as an alternative source of livelihood and conservation method.

Shri Jagdish Mukhi, Governor of Nagaland; Shri Y. Patton, Deputy Chief Minister, Government of Nagaland; Shri G. Kaito Aye, Minister for Agriculture and Cooperation, Government of Nagaland along with the Scientists from ICAR-NRC on Mithun and ICAR-Research Complex for North-Eastern Hills Region, Nagaland Centre and other Senior Officials from of Government of Nagaland were also present during the occasion.
