The Farmers’ FIRST Centre, Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri, Maharashtra in coordination with the District Rural Development Agency, Zilla Parishad, Ahmednagar organized a one-day Virtual Training Programme on “Vegetables and Medicinal Plants for Nutritional Gardening” today.
The Chief Guest, Dr. Lakhan Singh, Director, ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Pune, Maharashtra highlighted the Poshan Vatika’s significance at each household level. He also stressed on creating awareness to all the farm women and children in the whole village along with strengthening the linkage with the schools, Anganwadi Workers, nearby KVKs, NGOs, FPOs and other agencies.
Dr. S.R. Gadakh, Director (Research and Extension Education), MPKV, Rahuri, Maharashtra stressed on the need for vegetable and medicinal plants for kitchen gardening, especially, for regular supply of the nutritious and residue-free produce for daily consumption.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Dr. P.B. Kharde, Principal Investigator, Farmers’ FIRST Programme highlighted the conversion of adopted villages into the model villages.
The Professors / Associate Professors of the MPKV, Rahuri, Maharashtra delivered Lectures on Vegetables and Medicinal Plants Cultivation considering the concept of nutritional gardening.
More than 100 farm women from Chinchvihire and Kangar Villages virtually participated in the training programme.
