Minister of State for Social Justice & Empowerment Department, Government of Haryana visits ICAR-IISWC, Research Centre, Chandigarh

“The submergence area of the water harvesting structure should be increased as it being a source of water for wild animals and contributing to the ground water recharge”, urged Shri Om Prakash Yadav, Minister of State for Social Justice & Empowerment Department, Government of Haryana. The Minister was on his visit to the ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil & Water Conservation, Research Centre, Chandigarh, Punjab today.
During his visit to the crop and horticulture demonstration section, he appreciated the works being carried out at the research farm. The Minister opined that the crop and horticulture section must have different micro-irrigation systems for demonstration and training. He urged for making efforts to harvest the water from the catchment area in the research farm and use it for the irrigation of crops.
The staff members of the Institute and Research Centre were also present during the occasion.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Dr. O.P.S. Khola, Head of the Centre outlined the mandate and activities being carried out by the Research Centre.
