The ICAR-Indian Institute of Rice Research, Hyderabad in association with the Society for Advancement of Rice Research (SARR), Hyderabad organized a Webinar on “Rice Cultivation with drip irrigation and fertigation” today.
In his Talk, the Key Speaker, Dr. P. Soman, Vice President & Chief Agronomist (Global), Jain Irrigation Systems Ltd. underlined the efficient use of irrigation water in agriculture and the progress of irrigation technologies in the modern world. He emphasized the advantages of the drip irrigation technology over the conventional irrigation methods.
Dr. R.M. Sundaram, Director, ICAR-IIRR highlighted the role of conventional and molecular breeding techniques in improving the water use efficiency of rice crop. He also outlined the potential role of drip irrigation in reducing the water use.
More than 100 participants from India, Iran and Israel participated in the Webinar.
The Webinar was organized as a part of the “Bharat Ka Amrut Mahotsav” to commemorate 75 Years of India’s Independence.
