The ICAR-Indian Institute of Natural Resins & Gums, Ranchi, Jharkhand celebrated the “1st National Lac Insect Day - 2022” during the Productive Insects Conservation Week (16th to 22nd May, 2022) here today.
In his address, Dr. K.K. Sharma, Director, ICAR-IINRG, Ranchi highlighted the importance of the beneficial insects, especially, the Lac Insects in the ecosystem services and livelihood security of the dependent human population. The need for conservation efforts to protect the beneficial insect biodiversity available in the country was also stressed by Dr. Sharma.
The Institute signed the Memorandum of Association (MoA) with IIT (ISM), Dhanbad, Jharkhand for implementing the Project on “Inclusive Agriculture Ecosystem for Jharkhand: Application to Fintech and Blockchain”.
The Project aims at designing an integrated blockchain and Artificial Intelligence enabled platform that will allow all involved in the Lac Farming, Farmers’ Producers’ Organizations, digital lenders, processing units, industries and importers to connect on a single platform.
