ICAR-Central Research Institute of Dryland Agriculture, Hyderabad and National Academy of Agricultural Sciences-Hyderabad chapter jointly organized a Debate competition for the students of Kendriya Vidyalaya and Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan of twin cities of Secunderabad and Hyderabad at CRIDA, Hyderabad on on the topic “Agricultural Research as a Career Option”. Twenty nine students from 15 schools spoke for and against the proposition



Dr S M Virmani , NAAS-Foreign Activities In charge was the Chief Guest for the function. While addressing students he emphasized on the role of science in management of ecological balance and for this scientific temper need to be inculcated in the young minds through education. Dr Virmani gave away awards to winners of debate competition.
Dr Ch. Srinvasa Rao, Director, CRIDA, reiterated that agriculture has huge opportunities which needed to be focused in curriculum and awareness is required at school teachers and parents level.
The programmes were attended by all scientists of CRIDA and NASS fellows and teachers of 15 schools. Later, students were taken to CRIDA facilities and Laboratories on CRIDA Gallery on Rainfed technologies, climate research facilities like Open Top Chambers, Phenomics and Soil Analysis Labs.
