Dr. K.D. Kokate, DDG, Agriculture Extension, Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and Swami Atmapriyananda ji, Vice Chancellor, Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda University (RKMVU) signed a MoU for establishing 632nd Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) in South 24 Parganas district (West Bengal) here today. Dr. S. Ayyappan, Secretary, DARE and Director General, ICAR was present on the occasion.
Dr. K.D. Kokate said this is the second KVK in one of the largest district in India, South 24 Parganas, where farmers are already practicing Integrated Farming System. He said that another award winning KVK in the district is functioning since 1979 at Nimpith under Ramakrishna Ashram.
On this occasion, Swami Atmapriyananda ji expressed his pleasure for opening KVK under RKMVU and hoped that KVK will help the farmers of this region. He also delivered an enlightening talk on ‘The Science of Life and Living- Swami Vivekananda’s Worldview’ under the ICAR’s Vichar Manch Forum. A lively interaction followed the lacture.
Earlier, Dr. S. Ayyappan welcomed the dignitaries and introduced Swami Atmapriyananda ji.
Shri Arvind R. Kaushal, Additional Secretary, DARE and Secretary, ICAR, Deputy Directors General and senior officials of ICAR were also present on the occasion.
