With an objective to encourage the farmers to take up ‘Vanaraja’ farming at the village level so as to enhance meat and egg production and to promote backyard poultry farming as an alternative source of income for improvement of livelihood of rural tribal farmers and farm women, the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Ri-Bhoi distributed 100 numbers of’ Vanaraja’ chicks under TDC component of NICRA Project to 7 numbers of selected farmers from the NICRA adopted village Kyrde.

The Foundation Stone laying ceremony of the CISH-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Malda was held on January 21, 2017 at ICAR-CISH Regional Research Station, Malda, West Bengal. Dr. A. K. Singh, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension & Horticulture Science) laid the foundation stone in presence of Swami Viswamayananda (Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Ashram, Sargachi), and other distinguished dignitaries.

Srijan Sansad Kisan Mela (20-22 January 2017) was inaugurated by Smt. Santhsh Ahlawat, MP of Jhunjhunu at Abusar, Jhunjhunu (Rajasthan) today. Smt Ahlawat distributed 250 Soil Health Cards to the farmers.

A two-day Agri Industry Meet (11-12 January 2017) organised by Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Jabalpur was inaugurated at KVK Neemuch by Smt Avantika, Chairman, Zila Panchayat, Neemuch today.

Two-day State Level Mid Review and Planning Workshop for Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) of Gujarat was inaugurated at Sardar Krushinagar Dantiwada Agriculture University (SDAU), Dantiwada, today.

ICAR-Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute, Barrackpore organized a 4-day training programme for the farmers of Mayurbhanj District, Odisha during 23-26 December 2016.

ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Umiam organised a two-day training programme on “Mobile App Development” (20-21 December, 2016) at Shillong, Meghalaya.

Dr. Bidyut C. Deka, Director-ATARI, in his address highlighted the objectives of the training programme and emphasized on the need of developing mobile apps.
