The ICAR-Directorate of Floricultural Research, Pune organised the foundation stone laying ceremony of its Regional Station at Vemagiri Village, Kadiyam Mandal, Andhra Pradesh today.



The Chief Guest, Shri M. Murali Mohan, Member of Parliament applauded the outstanding contributions made by the farmers to make Kadiyam as a major nursery hub of the country. He also said that the establishment of Regional Station of ICAR-Directorate of Floricultural Research would provide them to an easy access to technologies for further boosting the science led nursery development in the region.
In his presidential speech, Shri Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdhary, MLA, Rajamahendravaram Rural urged the farmers for diversifying more flower crops and adopting the value addition for increasing their income.
In his welcome speech, Dr. T. Janakiram, ADG (HS - I) outlined the genesis of the Regional Station and briefed about the steps being taken by ICAR to operationalize the station. Dr. Janakiram also highlighted the enormous scope of commercial floriculture in the region.
Smt. P. Rajani Sesha Shai, Mayor along with the Directors of ICAR Institutes and People’s representatives were also present during the event.
A leaflet highlighting the genesis of the Regional Station was also released by the dignitaries.
The programme registered a total footfall by about 450 people including people’s representatives, farmers, nursery growers, state department officials and university officials.
