DG, ICAR Inaugurates Guest House Annexe at ICAR–NMRI, Hyderabad

Dr M.L. Jat, Secretary, DARE & Director General, ICAR, visited ICAR–National Meat Research Institute, Hyderabad, and inaugurated the Guest House Annexe Building, strengthening the institute’s infrastructure for research and capacity building in the meat and livestock sector.

During the visit, Dr Jat reviewed ongoing research activities on meat quality, food safety, value addition, and waste valorization, and appreciated ICAR–NMRI’s efforts in promoting technology commercialization and supporting startups in the livestock and meat value chain.

Addressing the gathering, he emphasized the need to strengthen research, innovation, and industry linkages to enhance value addition in the livestock sector, promote rural entrepreneurship, increase farmers’ income, and ensure sustainable livestock production. He underscored that quality is essential for consumer trust and export growth and encouraged scientists to develop innovative technologies to support the growth of the livestock and meat processing sector.

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Dr Jat felicitated women entrepreneurs for their contributions to the sector.

Welcoming the Chief Guest, Dr S. B. Barbuddhe, Director, ICAR–NMRI, presented an overview of the institute’s key research achievements, technology development initiatives, and outreach activities. Institute publications were also released during the event.

The programme was attended by Directors of local ICAR institutes, scientists, staff members, entrepreneurs, and stakeholders associated with ICAR–NMRI.
