ICAR–National Academy of Agricultural Research Management, Hyderabad, organized a four-day Skill Development Training Programme on ‘Empowering Rural Women through Sustainable Dairy Production’ under the SC Sub-Plan, in collaboration with the College of Veterinary Science, Rampura Phul, Bathinda district, Punjab. The training programme was conducted from 24 - 27 March 2026 at CVSc, Rampura Phul.

The programme was aimed at strengthening entrepreneurial capabilities among rural women and enhancing their knowledge of sustainable dairy practices. Participants actively engaged in the sessions and were trained in scientific methods of buffalo rearing and sustainable dairy production. As part of the programme, exposure visits to organized dairy farms were also arranged to provide practical insights.
Dairy farming was emphasized as a viable avenue for augmenting household income, owing to its relatively low investment and promising economic returns. Participants were encouraged to maintain continuous engagement with the college to benefit from the technical support and facilities available locally.
The trainees were also sensitized to the objectives and implementation of the SC Sub-Plan programme and guided on adopting dairy farming as a sustainable income-generating enterprise. The sessions highlighted the role of dairy products in enhancing livelihoods and underscored the importance of such initiatives in empowering rural women.

During the valedictory programme, essential inputs, including 60-litre capacity cream separator machines, 10-litre capacity milk storage containers, and other necessary equipment, were distributed among the trainees to support them in initiating dairy-based enterprises.
