The Hydrology & Engineering (H&E) Division of the ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation, Dehradun, celebrated Engineers’ Day today to commemorate the birth anniversary of the eminent Indian engineer and statesman Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya.
On the occasion, Dr Shakir Ali, Director, ICAR-IISWC, addressed the gathering of officers and staff of the H&E Division and highlighted the important role of engineers in nation building and sustainable development. He also emphasized the contribution of engineering innovations in addressing emerging challenges related to soil and water conservation and natural resource management.

During the programme the significance of Engineers’ Day was highlighted, along with the remarkable life, contributions, and enduring legacy of the renowned engineering pioneer. His exceptional contributions to engineering, water resources development, and nation building were emphasized, along with the values of dedication, discipline, innovation, and professional excellence that continue to inspire generations of engineers.
