District Level Workshop on “Doubling Farmers’ Income and Nutritional Security of Farm Families for Atmanirbhar Bharat” organized

The Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Baramulla, Jammu & Kashmir organized the District Level Workshop on “Doubling Farmers’ Income and nutritional security of farm families for Atmanirbhar Bharat” to celebrate the Rashtriya Poshan Maah today.

The Chief Guest, Shri Naveen Kumar Choudhary, Principal Secretary Agriculture Production & Farmers’ Welfare, Animal Sheep Husbandry Department, Government  of Union Territory, Jammu & Kashmir urged to form the Farmers’ Producers’ Organizations, adopt organic farming and processing facilities for self-employment of youths with support of the different government schemes for direct benefits of the  farmers. He highlighted the importance of several farmers’ friendly schemes of the government.

The Chief Guest launched the Weather-based Agro Advisory Service for the farmers of Baramulla District and laid E-Foundation Stone of “Go Grah” as part of Integrated Farming System of KVK. He also distributed the Vegetable Seed Kit provided by the IFFCO and farm implements to the participants.

Earlier, in his welcome address, Dr.  D.B. Singh, Director, ICAR-Central Institute of Temperate Horticulture, Baramulla, Jammu & Kashmir briefed about the Institute’s research achievements for the farming community’s benefits.

The main objective of the programme was to create awareness among the farmers about the strategies and interventions for doubling the farmers’ income by 2022 and ensure the nutritional security of farm families for Atmanirbhar Bharat.

The Chief Agriculture Officer Baramulla; SDM, Gulmarg; representatives of Sewa Bharti along with 150 farmers, farm women and Anganwadi Workers from the different parts of the District participated in the programme.
