Directorate of Maize Research (DMR), New Delhi organized a training and demonstration programme on Rabi Maize Production Technology, in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) and Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) under Tribal Sub-plan on 13th November, 2013 at Jamtara district, Jharkhand.


Mr. Chandrashekhar, Deputy Commissiner, Jamtara district inaugurated the programme and motivated the farmers to take up the scientific maize cultivation practices for economic prosperity. He also expressed his happiness towards the efforts made by the DMR for introducing rabi maize in the region through forging a close collaboration with the district KVK and ATMA.
Dr. V.K. Yadav, DMR guided the participating farmers for taking up rabi maize cultivation, seed production and value addition.

Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, Programme coordinator, KVK, Jamtara and Ms. Saban Gudya, District Agriculture Officer were also present on the occasion.
Through this programme, rabi maize was introduced for the first time in the region with the collaboration of Directorate of Maize Research, and Jamtara Krishi Vigyan Kendra.
During the programme 300 tribal farmers were trained in scientific way of maize cultivation. Intercropping in rabi maize and post-harvest value-addition were also emphasized in the training programme.
