A Meeting to Review the Research Activities and Strengthening Further Research Programme of NICRA Strategic Research Partner Institutes under Crop Improvement and Crop Protection Themes was organized by the ICAR-Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture, Hyderabad at the National Agricultural Science Centre Complex, New Delhi from 26th to 27th July, 2022.

Dr. Suresh Kumar Chaudhari, Deputy Director General (Natural Resource Management), ICAR highlighted the need to use the cutting edge tools and techniques for addressing the challenges of biotic and abiotic stresses in the crops.

Dr. B. Venkateswarlu, Former Vice-Chancellor, Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Krishi Vidyapeeth, Parbhani, Maharashtra & Chairman, Expert Committee for NICRA Strategic Research stressed on the need for sharing the Germplasm identified for tolerance to abiotic and biotic stresses with the relevant Institutes for the use in Breeding Programmes.

Dr. Kuldeep Singh, Member, Expert Committee urged for carrying out the focused research to contribute to science and develop the crop varieties.
Dr. U.S. Sharma, Member accentuated on addressing the challenges of abiotic stresses in the different crops.
Earlier, delivering the welcome address, Dr. V.K. Singh, Director, ICAR-CRIDA, Hyderabad briefed about the main objectives of the Meeting.
