Zonal Monitoring Workshop

The Zonal monitoring workshop (11-12, February 2023) organized by the Technology Demonstration Component of NICRA was inaugurated at ICAR - Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture, Hyderabad today.

Dr. Suresh Kumar Chaudhari, Deputy Director General (Natural Resource Management), in his inaugural address said KVKs are the backbone of Indian agriculture and highlighted the success stories of the work done under NICRA-TDC. and also told that these success stories are recognized by international organizations like FAO etc., He emphasized the Zonal monitoring committees were created to monitor the work of 50% risk districts identified under NICRA-TDC. He also urged to identify where convergence is required and to see which component is not working properly. He stressed identifying the areas where policies are required and rationalizing the existing resources.

Dr Rajbir Singh, Assistant Director General (AAG&CC) highlighted the success stories of different KVKs under NICRA-TDC and urged to upscale these success stories in a large scale and showcase these to farmers. He also stressed evaluating heat wave and cold wave occurrences.

Dr. R.K.Singh, Assistant Director General (Extension) urged to integrate multiple stresses in the TDC component and stressed transferring the Knowledge to farmers timely and focusing on coordination and convergence between agencies.

Dr. V.K. Singh, Director, ICAR-CRIDA emphasized the importance and purpose of this ZMC meeting.

Dr. JVNS Prasad, Programme Leader, TDC-NICRA briefed the objectives of the zonal monitoring workshop.

Scientists from ICAR-CRIDA, ZPD Directors and 36 delegates were present in the inaugural session.

The manual of the Technology Demonstration Component (TDC) of NICRA was released by the dignitaries.
