ICAR-CIFRI initiated development of ornamental fish cluster in adopted villages of KVK Nimpith Ashram in collaboration with Ramkrishna Ashram KVK, Nimpith and Rotary international, Kolkata Mahanagar by adopting 50 Scheduled caste women for ornamental fish farming. Under the guidance of Dr. B. K. Das, Director, ICAR-CIFRI an ornamental cluster was planned for Nimpth area for the livelihood development of rural SC women.

Swami Asheshananda ji Maharaj of Ramkrishna Ashram graced the occasion as chief guest and highlighted that women in the region are generally busy with household chore work. He suggested the women fish farmers to take up the activity seriously for their development and hoped that more women will be interested for ornamental fish culture activities in future.
Dr. B. K. Das, Director, ICAR-CIFRI in his address advised the women fish farmers to take up ornamental fish farming for their livelihood development and extra earning with little extra effort. 50 units of FRP ornamental tanks with fish-feed, ornamental fish and other accessories were distributed to SC women beneficiaries.
