The Horticultural Science Division envisions a future where Indian horticulture is globally competitive, climate-resilient, nutrition-sensitive, and resource-efficient by 2047. The strategic way forward focuses on developing next-generation, high-yielding and climate-smart varieties through genomic, biotechnological, and precision tools; promoting sustainable and digital horticulture using AI, and remote sensing; and strengthening post-harvest management, value addition, and export-oriented production systems. The Division aims to empower farmers, women, and youth through entrepreneurship, incubation, and skill development; foster public–private partnerships and global collaborations for innovation and technology dissemination; and advance policy support for inclusive, low-carbon, and market-linked growth.
