Empowering Farmers’ Producers Organization – An effort by ICAR-CRIJAF

Jute based products are gaining importance as the best alternative to plastics. The relevance of such eco-friendly goods made from jute fibre has increased after ban of plastic products in phased manner. ICAR-Central Research Institute for Jute and Allied Fibers, Barrackpore I working on the technological and economic empowerment of SHGs and FPOs to strengthen the activities of FPOs by capacity building of farmers and farm women on jute production and value addition.

International Training Program on, “ Diversification of Coastal Agroecosystems for Climate Resilience and Livelihood Security” inaugurated at ICAR-CCARI, Goa

ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Old Goa, Goa in collaboration with Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) and World Agroforestry (ICRAF) are  organizing International Training Program on “Diversification of Coastal Agroecosystems for Climate Resilience and Livelihood Security” during 07 to 11 November 2022. The traning programme was inaugurated here today.

Strengthening Women Farmer Producer Organizations (WFPOs) for Promoting Agri-preneurship in Convergence Mode

A Training-cum-Workshop on “Strengthening Women Farmer Producer Organizations (WFPOs) for Promoting Agri-preneurship in Convergence Mode” under ICAR-NASF project was organized by ICAR-CIWA, Bhubaneswar in Tentalpur village under Nischintakoili block, Cuttack district of Odisha. It was attended by about 70 participants including scientists of ICAR-CIWA, farm women, farmers, Personnel from Line Department, Personnel from NIGAM NGO, Odisha Diary and Media Personnel.

Training and Demonstration on Biocontrol of Invasive Whiteflies by ICAR-NBAIR gives Confidence to Coconut Farmers

7th October 2022, Nagathihalli, Mandya

The coconut plantations in South India are under increased threat due to successive entry of four invasive whiteflies viz., rugose spiraling whitefly, Aleurodicus rugioperculatus, Bondar’s nesting whitefly, Paraleyrodes bondari and nesting whitefly, Paraleyrodes minei and palm infesting whitefly, Aleurotrachelus atratus within in a span of five years. Drought appears to favour outbreak of these whitefly populations.
