Centre for Advanced and Faculty Training (CAFT) training on “Soft Computing Tools for Applications in Food and Agricultural Processing” inaugurated at ICAR-Central Institute of Agricultural Engineering, Bhopal on 1st August, 2018.

A one-day workshop on “Application of Biosensor Technology in Inland Fisheries” organised on 1^st August 2018 at ICAR-Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute, Barrackpore. The workshop aimed at sensitizing the professionals, working ininland fisheries sector,on the potentials of biosensing technolgy in aquatic health monitoring.

A two-day National Workshop-cum-Brainstorming Session on “Unleashing the Hidden Potential of Maize Technology in NEH Region:  Status, Options and Strategies”(30- 31^s July, 2018 ) was organized by ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam in collaboration with ICAR-Indian Institute of Maize Research, Ludhiana at ICAR Manipur Centre. The aim of the workshop was to reveal the potentialities of maize cultivation in North Eastern Hill (NEH) region and to prepare future road maps for its popularization,

ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture, Bhubneshwar hosted the ICAR-WorldFish Collaborative Research Strategy Development Workshop at Bhubaneswar (17-18 July, 2018). The workshop was conducted to discuss and chalk out the research strategy to formulate a collaborative research project.

108th Foundation Course for Agricultural Research Service (FOCARS) inaugurated at National Academy of Agriculture Research Management on 2nd July, 2018 where 135 newly recruited ARS probationers joined. The FOCARS is a three-month training programme of Agricultural Research Service probationers who have cleared the Agricultural Research Service Examination of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research of the ICAR.

SAARC regional training on “Mass Breeding and Culture Technique of Catfishes” (16-21 July, 2018) was inaugurated at the ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (ICAR-CIFA), Bhubaneswar on 16th July, 2018. The training is jointly organised by the SAARC Agricultural Centre (SAC), Dhaka and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research.

A 3-day National Level Training on “Production and retting technology of Jute/Mesta/Ramie/Sunnhemp including other related aspects” sponsored by National Food Security Mission (NFSM) - Commercial Crops commenced on 11th July, 2018 at ICAR-NIRJAFT, Kolkata.

Tuticorin Research Centre of the ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI) conducted a three-day training programme on open sea cage culture and mariculture during 27th to 29th June 2018. The training, which was the second phase training under the skill development programme funded by the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB), was attended by 50 selected fishers from Thoothukudi district.

ICAR-Central Institute of Agricultural Engineering Bhopal organized a “Hands-on Training for Farmers on Improved Agricultural Implements and Machinery” during 3-5 July, 2018.. During the training, participants were briefed on updates of technologies on farm mechanization and agro- processing. They were given hands on training including demonstrations of improved agricultural technologies, necessary adjustments as well as visits to different laboratories.
