ICAR- CMFRI trains tribal people in cage fish farming

Aimed at uplifting the living standards of the tribes, the ICAR- Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (ICAR- CMFRI) extended technical support in cage farming to around 35 tribal families in T V Puram panchayat in Vaikom, Kottayam on 20th March 2018.  The initiative was part of CMFRI’s project for popularising the less expensive fish farming method among the tribal colonies across the coastal states under the Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).

International Training Program on “Rainwater Management for Climate Resilient Agriculture in Drylands” was organized from 15th February-7th March, 2018 at ICAR-Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture, Hyderabad. This program was organized under India–Africa forum Summit-III and sponsored by Ministry of External Affairs.

International training program on “Critical Rice Production and Processing Technologies’’

An international training program on “Critical Rice Production and Processing Technologies’’ was organised at ICAR-Indian Institute of Rice Research, Hyderabadfrom 20th February, 2018 to 6th March, 2018. The training program was sponsored by MANAGE under Feed the Future-India Triangular Training (FTF-ITT). Twenty participants from seven countries viz., Afghanistan, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Liberia, Myanmar, Sudan and Uganda have participated in the training program.

National Seminar on Protection of Plant Varieties & Farmers’ Rights and exhibition on Agro-Biodiversity

Protection of Plant Varieties & Farmers’ Rights Authority and ICAR- Technology Application Research Institute, Jabalpur organized a two-day “National Seminar on Protection of Plant Varieties & Farmers’ Right” during 26-27 February 2018 at KVK Satna, Deendayal Research Institute, Chirakoot.  The major focus area for deliberations was Protection and Conservation of Plant Varieties & Farmers’ Rights.

Big Data Analytics Policy Workshop Concluded at ICAR-NAARM

A 2-days’policy workshop on “Big Data Analytics in Agriculture” was organized at ICAR-National Academy of Agricultural Research Management, during 08-09 February 2018. Forty-eight (48) participants including Senior scientists, Professors from SAUs, Senior managers and professionals from different parts of the country have participated.The programme was intended to brainstormabout innovative applications of Big Data Analytics in Agriculture. Bigdata analytics is futuristic and offers tremendous potential in agriculture.
