ICAR-NEH Quality Analysis Laboratory inaugurated at Imphal, Manipur

Shri Th. Shyamkumar, Minister for Horticulture & Soil Conservation, Forest & Environment and MAHUD & Town Planning, Government of Manipur inaugurated the ICAR-NEH Quality Analysis Laboratory at the ICAR-Research Complex for North-Eastern Hill Region, Manipur Centre, Imphal here today.

The Minister highlighted the importance of the state-of-the-art facility with respect to Manipur and North East India. He also stated about the importance of quality analysis in different food products.

Shri K. Kipgen, Director, Department of Horticulture & Soil Conservation, Government of Manipur underlined the ICAR-NEH Quality Analysis Laboratory’s background. He also assured about the significant role to be played by the Laboratory in proper quality control mechanism for the fresh horticultural produces as well as processed products.

Shri J.C. Ramthanga, Principal Secretary, Horticulture & Soil Conservation, Government of Manipur highlighted the Department’s success and the different schemes like MIDH, MOMA, etc. He also stated that the Quality Laboratory is first of its kind in the entire North East India that will benefit many farmers and entrepreneurs from the whole North East India.

Dr. Narendra Prakash, Director, ICAR-RC for NEH Region, Umiam highlighted the Quality Laboratory’s importance for the analysis of different fresh fruits, vegetables as well as processed foods. He regarded the Quality Laboratory as the outcome from the collaboration of ICAR and Government of Manipur.

Dr. I. Meghachandra Singh, Joint Director, ICAR-RC NEH, Imphal was also present during the occasion.

The Laboratory is a unique joint venture of the ICAR and Government of Manipur implemented with the Financial Assistance from Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation, Manipur under the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture.

The women farmer beneficiaries were provided with the various inputs.

The inaugural function concluded with the Vote of Thanks by Dr. S.S. Roy, Senior Scientist & Incharge, ICAR-NEH Quality Analysis Laboratory, ICAR, Manipur Centre.

A total of 180 participants registered their participation in the event.
