The ICAR-Central Institute for Subtropical Horticulture, Lucknow and National Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Lucknow Chapter jointly organized a Brainstorming Meet on ''Strategies for the management of banana Fusarium wilt (TR-4) in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar'' today.

The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Dr. P.K. Chakrabarty, Member, Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board, ICAR, New Delhi. He emphasized on the key issues like bio-security and quarantine rules for preventing the spread of TR-4 in the new areas, geospatial mapping of Panama wilt disease spread across the country and new strategy of diagnosis.
Dr. A.N. Mukhopadyay, Former Vice-Chancellor, Anand Agricultural University, Gujarat; Dr. B.M.C. Reddy, Former Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Y.S.R. Horticultural University and Former Director, ICAR-CISH, Lucknow also presented their views on ICAR-FUSICONT technology.
The main aim of this meet was to commemorate the success of ICAR-FUSICONT technology and further strengthen the technology for its registration, licensing and large scale adoption.
During the occasion, 5 farmers from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh shared their experiences and success stories of ICAR-FUSICONT technology adoption that helped them in effectively managing the Panama wilt in their fields and achieve good yields with good economic returns.
Later, 4 Memorandums of Understanding were signed between the ICAR and 4 entrepreneurs viz., Bihar Kela Utpadak Sangh, Avika Enterprises Nursery, Global Biotech Agro Solution and Matee Foundation Trust, for taking the technology forward.
