Shri Giriraj Singh, Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying visited the ICAR-Central Institute for Research on Goats, Makhdoom today. He was accompanied by Dr. Ashok Kumar, ADG (Animal Husbandry), ICAR; Shri O.P. Chaudhary, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India.

The Minister visited the Moringa olifera (Sahjan) cultivation farm of 20 acre area and reviewed the Moringa feeding trails’ progress. Shri Singh also visited the livestock units and applauded the Institute’s research initiatives on cross breeding in goats. He interacted with about 350 goat farmers beneficiaries in the training programme organized under the Scheduled Caste Sub Plan fund.
Shri Singh urged the farmers for utilizing the ICAR-CIRG’s developed technologies, practices for profitable goat farming in their respective locations. He emphasized that the Institute’s research priorities should be farmer centric with development of low cost technologies for the goat farmers.
The Minister also launched the “Mobile App” on “Goat Farming” (with 4 languages).
Earlier, Dr. M.S. Chauhan, Director, ICAR-CIRG highlighted the Institute’s contribution and achievements Institute. He outlined the ongoing progress of the Institute’s research and training programmes.
