Shri Narendra Singh Tomar interacts with Indian Forest Service (IFS) Probationers at ICAR-NAARM

Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare visited the ICAR-National Academy of Agricultural Research Management, Hyderabad and interacted with the IFS Probationers today. During his interaction, Shri Tomar urged them to be compassionate with the rural, tribal and farming communities while upholding the core principles of environmental governance and sustainable utilization of the resources. He stressed on the close linkages of agriculture and rural development with the environment. The Minister also applauded the ICAR-NAARM for designing such module for the IFS Officers which would have great significance in their field services.

Shri Dharmapuri Arvind, Member of Parliament, Nizamabad, Telangana State also participated in the interaction meeting.

Earlier, Dr. Ch. Srinivasa Rao, Director, ICAR-NAARM briefed about the activities of the programme and future perspectives in strengthening agricultural research and policy.

A total of 60 IFS Probationers and 2 Officers belonging to the Royal Bhutan Forest Service participated in the Training Programme on “Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) and Communication Strategies including Integrated Watershed Management (IWM)” organized for the IFS Probationers (2018-20 Batch) from the IGNFA, Dehradun.

The training was organized as a part of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the ICAR-NAARM and Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy, Dehradun.
