The ICAR-National Bureau of Agricultural Insect Resources, Bengaluru celebrated 26th Foundation Day at the Karnataka Veterinary Council’s Auditorium today.

The Chief Guest, Dr. Ashok Dalwai, I.A.S., CEO, National Rainfed Area Authority, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, Government of India applauded the Institute’s contribution in the Swachh Bharat Mission. Dr. Dalwai urged to keep the research’s focus on the problems that plague the farmers’ income. He also opined the scientists for developing the technologies that pose less environmental problems.
Dr. Chandish R. Ballal, Director, ICAR-NBAIR briefed Institute’s achievements during the Year - 2019-20. Dr. Ballal outlined the Bureau’s growth starting from the early PDBC during the 1990s to NBAII and NBAIR. She stressed on the need for preparedness to tackle the unexpected invasive pests, citing the recent examples of the rugose spiraling white fly and the fall army worm, both of which received complete attention from the bureau for developing the bio-control-based management strategies.
The various staff members were conferred with the Dr. R.J. Rabindra Team Award for the best team work done in the Institute.
The occasion held various cultural performances on the occasion.
