The ICAR-Directorate of Medicinal & Aromatic Plants Research, Anand, Gujarat organized the “27th Group Meeting of AICRP on Medicinal, Aromatic Plants and Betelvine” at Dr. YSR Horticultural University, Venkataramannagudem, Andhra Pradesh from 18th to 20th October, 2019.
The Chief Guest, Dr. A.K. Singh, Deputy Director General (Horticultural Science), ICAR emphasized on the importance of farmers’-friendly agro techniques in order to promote the MAP cultivation among more number of farmers. Dr. Singh stressed on using the ICT technology to connect the farmers through the E-portal for creating awareness about the generated technologies of MAPs. This will enable them for selling their products in an efficient manner which, in turn, will help the country’s goal of doubling the farmers’ income.
Dr. T. Janakiram, ADG (Horticultural Science - I), ICAR emphasized the importance of vertical farming in the MAP sector. He also urged to take the steps for minimizing the post-harvest losses during the transportation. Dr. Janakiram opined about the processable varieties of MAPs.
Dr. Satyajit Roy, Project Coordinator & Director, ICAR-DMAPR, Anand, Gujarat presented the Project Coordinator’s Report.
Around 14 Publications on MAP from different ICAR-AICRP Centres including Proceedings on Isabgol Stakeholders Meeting were released during the occasion.
The senior officials from the ICAR Institutes and Agricultural Universities participated in the programme.
