Virtual Training Programme for “Gaushalas on Fodder Production, Utilization and Conservation”

fodder-01-24072020.jpgThe ICAR- Indian Grassland and Fodder Research Institute, Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh organized a “Virtual Training Programme for Gaushalas on Fodder Production, Utilization and Conservation” from 21st to 22nd July, 2020.

In his inaugural address, Dr. Vallabhbhai Kathiria, Chairman, Rashtriya Kamdhenu Ayog, New Delhi urged for the conservation and development of indigenous breeds, improved management of cows and effective implementation of laws for the cows’ welfare and proper working of Gaushalas.

In his address, Dr Y.P. Singh, ADG (FFC), ICAR stressed on adopting the developed technologies for Gaushalas’ efficient and profitable management.

Dr. V.K. Yadav, Director, ICAR-IGFRI, Jhansi outlined the Institute’s activities.

The Gaushalas representatives stressed on the need for technological help and forage seed availability for improving the fodder availability from available arable and non-arable lands to fulfil the minimal requirements of housed cattle.

The main objective of the programme was to impart the Gaushalas keepers and managers with the skills on improved fodder production and utilization techniques, maintenance of animal health and make them self-reliant to meet their expenses through production and marketing of eco-friendly cattle products.

The representatives of around 80 Gaushalas keepers from the different states of the country participated in the Virtual Programme.
