The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Agriculture along with Gaddigoudar, Shri Parvatagouda Chandanagouda, Member (Lok Sabha), Bagalkot, Karnataka accompanied by his team and Senior Officials of Indian Council of Agricultural Research visited the ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute, Visakhapatnam Regional Centre today.
Dr. P. Pravin, ADG (Marine Fisheries), ICAR; Dr. Prathibha Rohit, Principal Scientist and Head, Pelagic Fisheries Division & Mangalore Regional Centre, ICAR-CMFRI and Dr. Shubhadeep Ghosh, Head, ICAR-CMFRI, Visakhapatnam Regional Centre were also present during the occasion.
On their visit to the indigenously developed Recirculatory Aquaculture System (RAS), the Team Members were briefed about the components of the system. The Members also visited the Broodstock Section maintaining the Broodfishes of orange-spotted grouper, Indian pompano and John’s snapper in 100 Tonnes of concrete cement tanks equipped with recirculation.
The dignitaries released the several Pamphlets on Marine Capture Fisheries including policy advisories, marine and estuarine cage farming, coastal pond farming and artificial reefs on the occasion.
