ICAR Institutes celebrate 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi - 2020

ICAR-Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute, Barrackpore, Kolkata

The Chief Guest, Dr. Joykrushna Jena, Deputy Director General (Fisheries Science), ICAR highlighted about the country’s self-dependency in foodgrains and horticultural crops production.

Dr. B.K. Das, Director of the Institute apprised the participants about the seven-day activities carried out by the Institute during the occasion. He also stressed on the need for reinventing the Gandhian philosophy of self-reliant rural India for doubling the farmers’ income and enhancing the rural livelihood and prosperity.

The Institute organized a wide array of different activities to celebrate 150^th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi from 26^th September to 2^nd October, 2020. The Institute carried out the Swachhata Abhiyan by cleaning the neighborhood slum areas, bleaching powder application at Dui Poisa Ghat and distribution of masks and sanitizers to the slum dwellers by the Director and other officers.

The occasion also held a Virtual Capacity Building Programme on “Knowledge empowerment of youth on inland fisheries management: A way towards Atmanirbhar Bharat” for the rural youths along with a Webinar-cum-Stakeholders’ Meet on “Reinventing Gandhian Philosophy in improving fishers’ livelihood”. More than 300 fishers from the Northern, Eastern, Southern, Western and North-Eastern states of the country virtually participated in the programme.

ICAR-National Research Centre on Yak, Dirang, Arunachal Pradesh

Dr. P. Chakravarty along with 47 employees of the Institute carried out the plantation drive in the Institute during the occasion.

The Institute also organized the painting competition for the school students on the occasion of 150^th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

ICAR-Central Institute for Women in Agriculture, Bhubaneswar, Odisha

The Institute organized an Essay Writing Competition on the theme “Gandhi on Social Issues against Women” along with the Virtual Elocution Competition on the theme “Mahatma Gandhi's thoughts on Women Empowerment and Present Scenario” during the celebrations of 150^th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute,  

The Institute organized Slogans Writing and Pictorial Depiction on Gandhian Philosophy on Agriculture, Poverty Alleviation, Gram Swarajya, etc., to celebrate the 150^th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

ICAR-Directorate of Mushroom Research, Solan, Himachal Pradesh

The Directorate organized a Swachhata Campaign on 26^th September, 2020 in the vicinity of the Directorate to pay its tribute to the father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi. The deliberation on “Gandhian Philosophy” was also organized during the occasion.

ICAR-Directorate of Rapeseed-Mustard Research, Sewar, Bharatpur, Rajasthan

The Directorate organized a plethora of activities like Special Lectures on “Gandhian Philosophy on Agriculture, Swachhata and Women Empowerment”, etc., along with Walkathons, Yoga celebrations, tree plantation drives, etc., to pay its tribute on 150^th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

ICAR-Indian Agricultural Statistics Research Institute, New Delhi

The Institute virtually organized the Quiz Competition on “Swachhata hi Sewa”, Debate Competition on “Is Gandhian Philosophy of Non-violence or Ahimsa relevant today?”, etc., on the 150^th Mahtma Gandhi Jayanti - 2020.

ICAR-Research Complex for Eastern Region, Patna, Bihar

The Institute organized a wide array of various programmes to apprise the participants of all age groups about the various principles of Mahatma Gandhi. To mark the celebrations, the Institute organized Yoga programme, Painting Competition and Debate Competition, etc.

ICAR-Indian Institute of Natural Resins and Gums, Ranchi, Jharkhand

Padma Shri, Prof. Ramjee Singh, Former Member of Parliament, Ranchi, Jharkhand delivered a Special Lecture on the “Gandhian Philosophy on Agriculture” arranged on the occasion of 150^th Birth Anniversary celebrations organized by the Institute.

The Institute also organized the Cleanliness Drive under “Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav” at Jaradih Village under Angara Block, Ranchi District to pay its tribute to the father of the nation. The occasion marked the planting of around 90 saplings of Kusum, Schleichera oleosa at the campus in the Plantation Drive carried out under the guidance of Dr. K.K. Sharma, Director of the Institute during the occasion.

ICAR-National Bureau of Agriculturally Important Microorganisms, Mau, Uttar Pradesh

The Institute demonstrated the compost technology as a part of Swachhta Abhiyan organized at the Kahinaur Village, Mau District to mark the celebrations of 150^th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
