ICAR-CAZRI, Jodhpur celebrates its 62nd Foundation Day

The ICAR-Central Arid Zone Research Institute, Jodhpur, Rajasthan virtually celebrated its 62nd Foundation Day today.

The Chief Guest, Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) & DG (ICAR) applauded the scientific and infrastructural developments, especially, at the Institute’s Regional Research Station at Leh. He urged the scientists for strengthening the R&D activities on value chain development, gene prospecting of desert hardy plants, product processing and value-addition, solar farming, water management, quality fodder production and also the new challenges posed by the locust invasion in the arid region in the recent years. The Director General emphasized on the need of coordination with the other Institutes working on horticulture and livestock aspects and development of value chains and bio-prospecting.

The Guest of Honor, Dr. S.K. Chaudhari, Deputy Director General (Natural Resource Management), ICAR delivered the Foundation Day Lecture on “Soil and Water Management: Key to Agricultural Sustainability” covering the various aspects related to Soil and Water Management in view of India’s commitment to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and Land Degradation Neutrality.

Earlier, in his welcome address, Dr. O.P. Yadav, Director, ICAR-CAZRI, Jodhpur, Rajasthan outlined the Institute’s major research and development achievements and new initiatives taken in the infrastructure development and in delivering the improved technologies to the farming communities and other stakeholders.

The senior officials of ICAR Institutes and State Agricultural Universities also virtually participated in the event.
