The ICAR-Central Institute of Brackishwater Aquaculture, Chennai virtually signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Central University of Kerala (CUK) to promote the Brackishwater Aquaculture in the North Kerala today.
Dr. Rajendra Pilankatta, Registrar-in-Charge, Central University of Kerala and Dr. K.K. Vijayan, Director, ICAR-CIBA signed the MoU on the behalf of their respective organizations.

Prof. H. Venkateshwarlu, Vice-Chancellor, Central University of Kerala stressed that the partnership would help to disseminate the technological advancements from the ICAR-CIBA’s laboratories to the lands of Kasaragod and Kannur areas that have high potential for Brackishwater Fish Farming.
As per the MoU, the awareness and capacity building programmes on Brackishwater Aquaculture are to be undertaken for educating the people about its potential. Also, the people will be apprised about the scope for societal development through entrepreneurship development, employment generation and rural development.
Under the MoU, the joint programmes will be initiated for addressing the farm level issues being faced by the farmers in the region. In the first phase, the ICAR-CIBA will provide critical inputs - seed and feed for the experiments. The CUK will conduct the field level demonstrations with technical inputs from the ICAR-CIBA.
The senior officials of both the organizations also virtually participated in the event.
