To mark the celebrations of the World Tribal Day, the ICAR-National Research Centre on Camel, Bikaner, Rajasthan organized the “Scientists’ Farmers’ Interaction Meet” at Isra and Mordu Villages of Abu Road Block in Sirohi District, Rajasthan today.
Outlining the Government Schemes for the welfare of Camels, Dr. Vinod Kalra, Joint Director (Animal Husbandry), Sirohi District, Rajasthan highlighted the opportunities of Camel Milk sale in Abu Road Tehsil of Sirohi District.

Dr. Artabandhu Sahoo, Director, ICAR-NRC on Camel, Bikaner regarded the trading of milk as the need of the hour to sustain the Camel Husbandry and check decline in the Camel population. Dr. Sahoo emphasized that although the Camel herders are coming forward to initiate such activities but, an institutional framework for the marketing of Milk is required.
The women farmers were demonstrated the hygienic milking and handling of milk. They were also apprised about the clean milk production, its relation with human health and on pasteurization.
The Concentrate Feed, Mineral Mixture and Supplements were distributed to more than 200 farmers and farm women participants during the occasion.
