Dr. Suresh Kumar Chaudhari, Deputy Director General (Natural Resource Management), ICAR was on his visit to the ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation (ICAR-IISWC) Research Centre, Chandigarh, Punjab here today.
The DDG urged the Institute’s Staff members to work in unity. He stressed on propagating the Hindi language through the work of the Institute. Dr. Chaudhari stated that the women Staff Members of the Centre and the Institute should get congenial environment for contributing to their progress. The long term monitoring of the historical Watershed Management Projects executed by the Institute for assessing ecosystem services from them was also accentuated by the DDG.
On visiting the iconic Watershed Management Project, Sukhomajri, Haryana, Dr. Chaudhari interacted with the local residents and beneficiaries. During the visit to the Mandhala Watershed Management Project, Himachal Pradesh executed by the ICAR-IISWC, Research Centre, the he interacted with the Secretary of the Water Users Association and discussed in depth the various aspects of the Project. The DDG also visited the Experimental Plots / Sites of the Institute.
Earlier, Dr. M. Madhu, Director, ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil & Water Conservation, Dehradun, Uttarakhand delivered the welcome address.
Dr. O.P.S. Khola, Head, ICAR-IISWC, Research Centre and the Staff Members of the Centre were also present during the occasion.
