CAZRI Celebrated Field Day in Naguar

A field day was organized on livestock centric livelihood project at SantBhuriya Baba Gaushala at village Harsolao in Nagaur district under National Rainfed Area Authority sponsored project ‘Pilot study on livestock centric interventions for livelihood improvement in Nagaur district of Rajasthan’ here today. Dr V. N. Sharda, Member, Agricultural Scientist Recruitment Board, New Delhi and chief guest of the function, advised the farmers to actively participate in the project with CAZRI and its consortia partners, GraminVikas Trust (NGO) and Rajasthan Livestock Development Board (RLDB) and learn technologies developed by scientists of CAZRI to get maximum productivity from their animals. He also inaugurated the feed block making machine and handed over unit to the farming community for production of complete feed blocks. This unit has been established for the first time in the rural areas of the state in farmers’ participation mode. While visiting the farmers’ field, he appreciated demonstrations on in-situ moisture conservation, silvi-pasture development and livestock management.

Dr. M.M. Roy, Director, CAZRI requested the farmers for working more closely with CAZRI and stressed the need for livestock and pasture development and other high value horticultural crops for getting higher income.

About 300 farmers including farm women, scientists and officers from line department participated in the function. Field visit, exhibition, farmers-scientists interaction and Kisan Goshthi were organized for capacity building of the farmers. Three progressive farmers were honoured for their innovative steps in drought management and adoption of CAZRI technologies.
