ASRB Celebrated 39th Foundation Day

asrb-foundation-day 2012-1Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board (ASRB) of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research celebrated the 39th Foundation Day at Dr. B.P. Pal Auditorium, IARI, New Delhi.

asrb-foundation-day 2012-5Shri P.K. Basu, Former Secretary, Agriculture and Cooperation, Government of India delivered the Foundation Day Lecture as Chief Guest of the function. He emphasized on flawless and transparent functioning of the Board. While sharing satisfaction over developments and accomplishments by the ASRB, Shri Basu said that reforms have to be a consistent and continuous process. On this occasion, he spoke on the recent agricultural challenges in India with reference to our preparedness through agricultural research and development.

asrb-foundation-day 2012-4Dr. Gurbachan Singh, Chairman, ASRB, while delivering his presidential address, emphasized on need for more investment in the field of human resource and education. He informed the gathering that ASRB has implemented the recommendations of Dr. Paroda Committee on ARS scientist’s model qualifications. He said that the delinking of ARS and NET examinations has been another major reform of ASRB. “It would greatly enhance our function if within the duly approved budget, freedom is given to the board to act in respect of administrative and other issues on the pattern of other prestigious recruitment organizations like UPSC”, he added.

Mahadevappa, Former Chairman, ASRB shared his reminiscences on earlier days and its important role in qualitative development of agricultural research in the country. Dr. H.S. Gaur, Dean and Joint Director, IARI, New Delhi and Dr. S.K. Bandyopadhyay, Member, ASRB also appreciated ASRB for development of quality human resource in agriculture.

asrb-foundation-day 2012-3Earlier, Dr. V.N. Sharda, Member, ASRB welcomed the dignitaries and presented a comprehensive progress report of ASRB. He also highlighted the significant achievements of the Board.
