Overview

The Horticultural Science Division of ICAR is responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring research and development programs in horticulture at the national level. The Division oversees research on more than 200 crops including fruits, vegetables, tuber crops, plantation crops, spices, flowers, mushrooms, and medicinal and aromatic plants. It promotes technology-led, climate-resilient, and sustainable development of the horticulture sector to enhance nutritional, ecological, and livelihood security across diverse agro-ecological regions of India.

 Mandate

  • To plan, coordinate, and monitor Research and Development programs at the national level in horticultural crops.

  • Horticultural Science Division is vested with the responsibility of overseeing the overall accelerated development of horticulture in national perspective for improving nutritional, ecological and livelihood security.

b. Mission

  • To achieve technology led development of Horticulture.
