DG, ICAR Visits Agriculture Research Centre, Bikaner

Dr. M. L. Jat, Secretary (DARE) and Director General (ICAR), visited the ICAR–Central Sheep and Wool Research Institute, Arid Region Campus, Agriculture Research Centre, Bikaner today.

During the visit, he toured the demonstration unit and observed the three prestigious carpet wool sheep breeds—Magra, Marwari, and Chokla—maintained at the centre. Dr Jat was briefed on the unique characteristics of these breeds and the ongoing genetic improvement programmes being implemented at the centre.

Senior officials apprised Dr. Jat of the mandate and major activities of the Agriculture Research Centre, with special emphasis on the achievements of the Nutrition Section.

The visit highlighted ICAR’s continued commitment to strengthening sheep and wool research in arid regions for sustainable livestock development.
