MDP on Efficient Financial & Procurement Management in ICAR System Organised at ICAR–CIFE, Kolkata Centre

The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) organised a Management Development Programme (MDP) on “Efficient Financial & Procurement Management in ICAR System” at the ICAR – Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Kolkata Centre, on 20–21 February 2026.

The programme was inaugurated by Shri Sandeep Sarkar, Additional Secretary (DARE) and Financial Advisor (ICAR). Ms. Sunita Arya, Director (Finance), ICAR, outlined the background and objectives of the programme, while Shri S. K. Pathak, Former Joint Secretary (Finance), ICAR, emphasised the importance of capacity building in financial and procurement management.

Shri Kumar Rajesh, Director (GAC), ICAR, provided detailed guidance on procurement procedures through the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) and the procurement of goods and services. Shri Rajesh Sahay, Former Senior Comptroller, ICAR – Indian Agricultural Research Institute, delivered a session on delegation of financial powers within the ICAR system.

Participants expressed high satisfaction with the programme and provided positive feedback, highlighting the need for such training initiatives to regularly update knowledge and strengthen institutional efficiency.

A total of 20 officials from various ICAR institutes across the Eastern Region of India participated in the two-day programme.
