Senior-Level Fertiliser Industry Officials Oriented on Balanced Fertiliser Use under Climate-Smart Agriculture in Goa under ICAR-CCARI, Goa

A Management Development Programme was organised by the Fertiliser Association of India (FAI), Western Region, at Calangute, North Goa, today under ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Goa. As part of the event, a technical session on “Balanced Fertiliser Use under Climate-Smart Agriculture” was conducted. 
An expert lecture was delivered on the importance of balanced fertiliser use in the context of climate-smart agriculture. The speaker highlighted the need for balanced and precision nutrient management to improve crop productivity, enhance nutrient use efficiency, reduce environmental pollution, and build resilience to climate change.

Emphasis was laid on site-specific integrated nutrient management, green manuring, biofortified crops, and the use of phosphate-rich organic manures, along with slow and controlled-release fertiliser formulations, for sustaining soil fertility and ensuring long-term agricultural productivity.The lecture also underscored the importance of integrating digital tools and weather-based agro-advisory services to support climate-smart nutrient management.

It was explained that combining scientific nutrient management practices with traditional agricultural knowledge can enable farmers to better adapt to changing climatic conditions while maintaining sustainable crop production. Furthermore, the role of precision nutrient management supported by digital technologies in significantly enhancing fertiliser use efficiency was highlighted.

Twenty senior and middle-level management officials’ representatives from various fertilizer companies such as Indian Potash Ltd, Indian Farmers Fertilizer Coop Ltd, Coromandel International Limited, Rashtiya Chemicals & Fertilizers Ltd, Hindalco Industries Ltd, Vedant Agro Science technologies Pvt Ltd, Paradeep Phosphates Ltd, ICL Growing Solutions, Hindusthan Urvarak & Rasayan Ltd. attended the event.
