An intensive campaign promoting the balanced use of fertilisers was successfully conducted across multiple southern states under the aegis of ICAR–Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Hyderabad. The initiative focused on encouraging farmers to adopt science-based nutrient and input management practices for sustainable agriculture.

In Andhra Pradesh, the campaign targeted eight districts identified for high DAP consumption. A total of nine awareness programmes were organized, directly reaching 455 farmers, with notable participation from districts such as Palnadu and Guntur. In addition, five training programmes were conducted, benefiting 305 farmers and emphasizing scientific nutrient management approaches.
The campaign also featured a blend of field-level interventions and digital outreach. Demonstrations on green manuring, biofertilisers, and other sustainable agricultural practices were carried out, while 846 farmers were engaged through direct physical interactions. The social media component significantly amplified the campaign’s reach, connecting with over 4,01,134 farmers.

Expanding beyond Andhra Pradesh, the campaign covered 72 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry. Collectively, these efforts reached 3,158 farmers through direct contact, while digital platforms extended the campaign’s outreach to approximately 5,51,116 farmers, with Andhra Pradesh contributing the largest share.
Overall, the campaign demonstrated an effective convergence of capacity building, extension demonstrations, and digital dissemination, reinforcing the importance of balanced fertiliser use and advancing sustainable agricultural practices across the region.
