ICAR–CRIDA, Hyderabad Organizes Kisan Gosthi on Balanced Use of Fertilisers in Telangana

ICAR-Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture, Hyderabad organized a Kisan Gosthi on “Balanced Use of Fertilisers” under the Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav programme in collaboration with Professor Jayashankar Telangana Agricultural University in Sangareddy district today.

The programme was conducted at Haridaspur village in Kondapur Mandal, where a team of scientists sensitized farmers on scientific nutrient management and sustainable agricultural practices. Key topics covered included best management practices, crop diversification and rotation, green manuring, water harvesting, and the balanced application of fertilisers.

Special emphasis was placed on the importance of soil testing, the use of soil health cards, adoption of alternatives to chemical fertilisers, recycling of crop residues, and integration of organic inputs. Farmers were also guided on Integrated Nutrient Management approaches aimed at optimizing fertiliser use, sustaining crop yields, and improving overall soil health and quality.

The event witnessed active participation from local agricultural officials and stakeholders. A total of 42 farmers attended the programme and benefited from the technical guidance provided.

Following the programme, the ICAR–CRIDA team met with the District Collector of Sangareddy and apprised them of the initiative and its objectives. The team highlighted plans to expand similar programmes across different villages in the district, focusing on varied themes to address the issue of excessive fertiliser use. The District Collector expressed appreciation for the initiative and extended full support, assuring cooperation from district officials for the effective implementation of such programmes.

The initiative reflects continued efforts by ICAR–CRIDA and its partners to promote sustainable and resource-efficient farming practices among rural communities.
