ICAR–Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Goa, organized a Stakeholder Consultation Meeting as part of the Third Meeting of the 10th Research Advisory Committee (RAC) today in Goa.
The Chief Guest, Smt. Sulakshana Sawant, renowned social worker and activist, appreciated the efforts of ICAR-CCARI in promoting sustainable coastal agriculture, climate-resilient technologies, integrated farming systems, and farmer-centric innovations in Goa. She emphasized coordinated efforts among departments and institutions for effective transfer of scientific technologies to farmers. She also stressed importance of balanced fertilizer use, adoption of natural farming practices, GI tagging, and encouraged youth to explore opportunities in agriculture, food industry and allied sectors towards achieving the vision of Viksit Goa and Viksit Bharat.

Dr Parveen Kumar, Director, ICAR-CCARI, Goa in his welcome address highlighted the major research and extension activities of ICAR-CCARI and emphasized the institute’s commitment towards sustainable coastal agricultural development and farmer welfare in Goa.
Dr S. D. Sawant, Chairman, RAC, appreciated the institute’s research achievements and stressed the importance of need-based, farmer-centric research and stronger stakeholder participation for enhancing the impact of agricultural technologies.
The RAC members, appreciated the activities and achievements of ICAR-CCARI. They also emphasized the importance of developing climate-resilient varieties, enhancing farm mechanization, value addition of farm produce, and strengthening post-harvest management to address the challenges of climate change and declining farm productivity, thereby enhancing the socio-economic well-being of farmers in the coastal regions.

The interaction provided a participatory platform for discussing issues related to sustainable coastal agriculture, climate resilience, natural resource management, integrated farming systems, fisheries, livestock, agro-ecotourism, biodiversity conservation, entrepreneurship development, and value addition. The programme also highlighted the contributions of ICAR-CCARI towards sustainable agricultural development and farmer-centric innovations in coastal regions. The programme aimed to strengthen collaboration among scientific institutions, government departments, financial agencies, and farming communities for sustainable agricultural development in Goa, towards achieving the vision of Viksit Goa and Viksit Bharat through science-led agricultural transformation.
The meeting brought together farmers, Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), scientists, officials from the Departments of Agriculture, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, representatives from NABARD, GCCI, Goa State Biodiversity Board, Goa Institute of Management and other stakeholders.
Around 80 stakeholders from across the state of Goa participated in the programme.
