An awareness programme on the importance of biofertilizer application and balanced fertilizer use was successfully conducted today at Kusur Village, Junnar Taluk, Pune District, Maharashtra, by the ICAR–Directorate of Floricultural Research, Pune.
The programme aimed to create awareness among farmers regarding the role of biofertilizers in sustainable agriculture and the importance of balanced fertilizer use for maintaining soil health, improving nutrient use efficiency, and enhancing crop productivity. During the programme, farmers were informed about the benefits of BIO NPK biofertilizer and its role in improving nutrient availability, reducing excessive dependence on chemical fertilizers, and promoting environmentally sustainable farming practices.

Special emphasis was given to integrated nutrient management practices for mixed farming systems involving vegetable and flower crops. Scientists explained the importance of adopting biofertilizers in combination with balanced fertilizer application to improve soil microbial activity, maintain long-term soil fertility, and enhance crop quality and yield.
As part of the programme, BIO NPK biofertilizer was distributed to farmers practicing mixed farming of vegetables and flower crops. Awareness was also created among local fertilizer dealers regarding the ongoing campaign on balanced fertilizer use and the promotion of sustainable nutrient management practices among farming communities.
A total of 24 farmers participated in the programme, including 18 female and 6 male farmers. The participants actively interacted with the scientists, showed keen interest in the use of biofertilizers, and discussed various practical aspects related to nutrient management in vegetable and flower-based farming systems.
