ICAR-NMRI, Hyderabad Participates in Khet Bachao Abhiyan at Hatiyathanda Villagem, Nalgonda District, Telangana

ICAR–National Meat Research Institute, Hyderabad, organised Kheti Bachao Abhiyan at Hatiyathanda village, Nalgonda district, today under Development Action Plan for Scheduled Tribes (DAPST).

The programme was graced by Shri Bathula Laxma Reddy, MLA, Miryalaguda, as the Chief Guest, and Shri Shankar Nayak, MLC, Telangana, as the Guest of Honour. Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries emphasized the importance of adopting sustainable agricultural practices, natural farming, scientific livestock management, and value addition to improve farmers' income and ensure long-term agricultural sustainability.

Dr. Subba Rayudu, Additional Director, Department of Animal Husbandry, Government of Telangana, and Managing Director, Telangana Sheep Federation, highlighted the role of animal husbandry in strengthening rural livelihoods and encouraged farmers to adopt scientific management practices for improved productivity.

Dr. S. B. Barbuddhe, Director, ICAR-NMRI, interacted with the farmers and highlighted the institute's research and extension activities in organic livestock farming, natural farming, meat production, livestock resource utilization, value addition, and safe meat production. He emphasized the importance of scientific livestock production, efficient utilization of animal by-products, and integrated farming systems for enhancing farmers' income and promoting sustainable agriculture.

The programme served as an effective platform for disseminating scientific knowledge and fostering stronger collaboration among farmers, researchers, and policymakers. The event concluded reaffirming the commitment of all stakeholders towards strengthening agriculture and livestock sectors through scientific interventions and farmer-centric initiatives.
