ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation, Dehradun, inaugurated a short course training programme on “NRM Interventions for Sustainable Agriculture in Uttarakhand” for Assistant Agriculture Officers of Uttarakhand. The programme is sponsored by the Directorate of Agriculture, Uttarakhand.
Dr Shakir Ali, Director, ICAR-IISWC, briefed the participants on the soil and water conservation technologies developed by the Institute and their relevance to the specific needs of Uttarakhand.
Addressing the officer trainees, Dr Charan Singh, Head, HRD&SS Division, highlighted that the training programme would provide a blend of theoretical knowledge and field-level exposure in soil and water conservation and sustainable agricultural practices. He emphasized that the learnings would enable the officers to effectively apply the technologies and practices in their respective areas.
During the programme, experts also deliberated on livestock production and management in watershed programmes.
A total of 20 officers, including eight women, from different districts of Uttarakhand are participating in the training programme. The programme aims to strengthen their technical knowledge and practical skills in climate-resilient soil and water management and sustainable agricultural practices.
