Virtual Annual Zonal Review Meeting of NICRA-TDC organized

The ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Jodhpur, Rajasthan organized the “Virtual Annual Zonal Review Meeting of NICRA (National Innovations in Climate Resilient Agriculture) - Technology Demonstration Component” today.

The Chief Guest of the Review Workshop, Dr. G. Ravindra Chary, Director, ICAR-Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture, Hyderabad advised the participants for up-scaling the most successful and scalable technologies in the nearby villages. He emphasized on taking-up the new interventions model having direct bearing effect with the climate changes. Dr. Chary also stressed on improving the soil organic carbon status and efficient recycling of biomass and efficient use of the soil health cards.

Briefing about the ZMC’s recommendations, the Guest of Honor, Dr. M.C. Varshneya, ZMC Chairman of NICRA Zonal Monitoring Committee urged for highlighting the flagship technologies, especially Happy Seeder, IFS Models, CHC and Water Harvesting Technologies under the NICRA TDS.

In his inaugural address, Dr. S.K. Singh, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Jodhpur, Rajasthan emphasized upon changing the recent climate challenges for agriculture. He urged for taking care of the deterioration of the natural resources due to changing climate, especially, land and water that are crucial. Dr. Singh stressed on aligning these interventions under the NICRA with the existing cropping practices of the region-based on vulnerability. He also emphasized on driving the scientific approaches for ensuring the resilience through capacity building and awareness in a participatory manner.

Earlier, in his welcome address, Dr. P.P. Rohilla, Nodal Officer, NICRA highlighted the salient achievements carried out by the NICRA-KVKs under the ICAR-ATARI - II, Jodhpur, Rajasthan.

The senior officials of ICAR Institutes participated in the Webshop.
