Webinar on “Farmers’ Producers’ Organizations (FPOs) - The Road ahead”

The ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Kolkata organized a Webinar on “Farmers’ Producers’ Organizations (FPOs) - The Road ahead” today.

Dr. S.K. Roy, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Kolkata briefed the FPOs and its role in agricultural development. He underscored the KVK’s role in mobilizing the farmers, capacity building, providing hand holding support and FPOs’ formation.

Shri M.K. De, Deputy General Manager, Bankers Institute Rural Development, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh deliberated on “Framework for formation and promotion of 10,000 FPOs by Government of India and experience of FPO movement”. He also emphasized on backward and forward linkage, business plan and market-led agricultural production.

Shri Kshetramohan Behera, C.E.O., Gorekhhnath Agri Producers Company Ltd.; Ms. Srija Addy Maity, M.D., Globalmoyna Farmers’ Producers’ Company Ltd. and Shri Subrata Karmakar, C.E.O., Hooghly Vegetable Growers’ Producers’ Company Ltd. shared issues and challenges of FPOs.

The staff members from a total of 59 KVKs attended the Webinar.
