Dr. D.R. Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Chandrashekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh inaugurated the two-day “Midterm Review Workshop of Krishi Vigyan Kendra in ICAR Zone - III, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh” today.
In his inaugural address, Dr. Singh applauded the KVK’s performance during the challenging times of COVID-19 Pandemic lockdown. He also emphasized on the KVKs’ roles as a backbone for the Indian economy during the prevalence of the COVID - 19. He highlighted the increase in Kharif sowing by 8% to 9% along with Wheat production during the last year and even in Kanpur region by 12% to 16%.
Dr. Singh accentuated that during the Covid - 19 periods, the special issues were also discussed online and solutions were worked out. He stressed on identifying 5 to 6 innovative farmers from each District. The Vice-Chancellor urged for compiling the innovations that have taken place in agriculture. He also outlined the benefits of the “Sankalp se Siddhi” Scheme of the government. The Chief Guest also honored the Progressive Farmers - Shri Raghupat Singh from Moradabad District and Shri Vigyan Shukla from Banda District.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Dr. Atar Singh, Director, ICAR-ATARI Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh highlighted the Krishi Vigyan Kendras’ commendable work during and post the COVID-19 Pandemic lockdown period.
The staff members of the Institute also participated in the workshop.
