Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Balyan, Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Govt. of India visited the ICAR- Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Goa here today. Dr Balyan stressed upon dissemination of technologies to the farmers for improving livelihood of the farmers. He also emphasized the scientists to be in close contact with the farmers and develop and disseminate farmer friendly technologies and methodologies. Dr Balyan suggested initiating adaptive research to suit the changing climate, land use pattern and topography in coastal ecosystems. The Minister laid foundation stone for the production facility for Virgin Coconut Oil and inaugurated the renovated building of Krishi Vigyan Kendra. He also visited experimental farms, units and demonstration plots of the Institute and Krishi Vigyan Kendra, North Goa.



Dr Balyan was accompanied by Dr. Bhola (MP, Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh) and Sri. Satish Kumar Gautam (MP, Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh).
Dr. Narendra Pratap Singh, Director, CARI briefed the Minister about important activities and projects being carried out by the institute.
An exhibition was also arranged showcasing various technologies developed at the Institute Scientists, and Staff of the Institute, State Government Officials and representatives of press and media were also present on the occasion.
